The South island Dairy Event (SIDE) is a registered charitable trust

Our History

The South Island Dairy Event (SIDE) was established in 1998 to provide a forum for those involved in the South Island dairy industry to evaluate and apply knowledge, skills and technology to their business. The key drivers of SIDE are South Island Dairy Farmers. The focus and delivery of all SIDE events is guided by farmer needs and on-going evaluation.

To inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in the South Island dairy industry

Our Mission

SIDE is a charitable organisation led by a Governance Group of Trustees.

The conference is run each year alternating between Southland, Otago and Canterbury generally. Each year an event committee is formed and a Chairperson is nominated from the Governance Group of Trustees.

SIDE is a two-day conference for farmers led by farmers.

The number of dairy farm owners, share milkers, contract milkers, herd managers and farm staff has increased rapidly in the South Island; these farmers and their needs are the key drivers of SIDE.

All SIDE events are created with the goal of providing professional development & education, business information and up-to-date research that empowers the farmers who are shaping New Zealand’s dairying future.
